The fascinating land on Europe's edge with a single phone book, sorted by first name, for all its inhabitants, must be seen at least once - and loved forever afterwards.

Westfjords is probably the least visited area of the island. The land extends here claw-like towards Greenland into the northern Atlantic. Látrabjarg, Europe's westernmost point, lies already on the American continental plate.

The Arctic Circle is moved towards south like on many maps of that date; actually it doesn't cross the main island at all and only touches shortly Grímsey.
