I had to take my vacation during the Easter, and that at a very short notice. There were only few opportunities left, so I opted for Cape Verde not really knowing what to expect. The very start was made as complicated as possible: the flight was scheduled at 9:20 am from Munich. Which meant: whoever doesn't stay overnight at the airport, looses.

The map is The Cape Verd Islands, laid down from the remarks and observations of experienced navigators, by Mons. d'Apres de Mannevillette, with several additions from The West-India atlas by Thomas Jefferys. The engraved nautical chart shows anchorages, rhumb lines, and wind directions. The atlas was first published in 1775 at Sayer and Bennett, 53 Fleet Street, London, four years after its creator's death, and reissued at least six more times; last edition appeared in 1818. This sheet dates from 1788.
